About Rolls100
2010 will be the centenary of the untimely death of Charles Stewart Rolls. Son of Lord Llangattock, a very wealthy aristocrat, whose family seat was near Monmouth on the Welsh border, Charles could have lived the lavish life that many of the other young aristocrats of the time led. Instead he seemed driven by the thought of being able to travel as fast as possible on land and air and producing vehicles of the highest quality.
His fortuitous meeting with Henry Royce brought about the foundation of one of the most exciting and influential companies in the world of transport – Rolls Royce. The centenary celebrations in 2010 will commemorate the many aspects of his life and everyone is invited to participate in the many activities, which include cycling, golf, hot air ballooning, vintage Rolls Royce car parades and much more.
